Reunions

My husband, daughter, and I just returned from a weekend in the Smoky Mountains, where we attended the first annual Cirque De Chine Adopted Chinese Children Reunion (ACCA). This was a fabulous one-day event, that included a morning of traditional Chinese games and culminated in a Cirque De Chine afternoon performance, an amazing two-hour acrobatic show.

To top off the weekend, our Travel Group (minus a few) decided to meet up at this event for our first reunion since traveling in China together to bring home our babies. It was a great opportunity to entertain all of the children and spend time together as a "family"(travel groups become an extended family). It was so great to see all of our girls back together again, this time not as frightened babies, but as energetic, happy toddlers. Our girls share a bond that extends as early as the day they were born. They've known one another longer than anyone. It's very special when we bring them together.

The Gatlinburg area offers lots of family-oriented things to do. Next year's Cirque De Chine ACCA Reunion will be Saturday, July 10. I highly recommend it. It's a wonderful opportunity for our Chinese children to celebrate their culture together with other adoptees from all across the southeast. And if you can't make it to the reunion, consider a vacation to the Smokies and add the Cirque De Chine show to your agenda. You won't be disappointed!

I love hearing about travel group reunions! And this weekend sounds great. I'll have to look into it - it's a bit of a drive for us, but we DO have relatives moderately close by. Sort of.
