Facing Fears

Yesterday, I was feeling a bit anxious and nervous about the upcoming travel. I don't enjoy flying, and I don't like the idea of my children not being in carseats while driving in another country where the laws of the road are very different from ours. For the past few days, I have had a song stuck in my head that I haven't heard in ages...

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you
And the waves, will not overcome you
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you
I have called you by name, you are Mine

For I am the Lord your God
I am the Lord your God
(I am) the Holy One of Israel, your Savior

I am the Lord
Do not fear

I wanted to find this verse, so when I opened the Bible, out jumped Isaiah 43:5... "Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west."

Well, as if that wasn't awesome enough, I continued to flip around looking for the song above. Unsuccessful, I went back to Isaiah 43 to read the entire chapter and low and behold it was the song!

Enough said.

In a crowd of 6 billion people, He calls us by name. He knows us inside and out. He knows what makes us laugh, what makes us cry. He knows when we are anxious and we are at peace. He sends us down the roads that have bumps in them so that we can learn to depend on Him to help us endure the bumps. Maybe we should embrace the bumps instead of wishing they weren't there.

You know He is holding your hand. You don't have to be at peace about the things that concern you about your journey. But be at peace with absolute assurance that just like your previous journey, He is in control. Embrace those bumps.
